Hanover St/Lord St (210) – Douglas
Brick-lined well Hanover Street/Lord Street, Douglas.
Possibly an 18th century well. Mr J. C. Bregazzi, Borough Surveyor, recorded the discovery of a brick-lined well in March 1953 in the course of excavating for a new trunk sewer between Hanover Street and Lord Street close to the Wheatsheaf Inn. His record includes a sketch showing the approximate position of the well and there may be a photograph in the Museum files.
Note: the sketch has not been seen and the well is not shown on the first OS maps.
Close to the Wheatsheaf Inn, between Hanover Street and Lord Street, Douglas.
The well was likely filled in when the sewer works were undertaken.
